"Lance Is Back"
After two years on the sidelines caused by major heart troubles, Lance Purdon is back in training and ready to make his presence felt at the national selection trials in March 2006.

Lance first appeared in an Air Force jumper in 2002 after transferring from the Navy. In 2003 he was awarded the captaincy of the club, and led in his usual passionate, no nonsense, and rugged style. He was rewarded with ADF selection in that year in the first ADF All Stars Anzac Day clash.

With his health concerns sidelining Lance from playing, he remained committed and returned in 2004 and 2005 to assist Paul James in the coaches box.

Lance has now been cleared to play football again, and he is keener than ever. Training for selection trials for Lance started just prior to the AFL Grand Final, 28 weeks before our opening game against Navy. We can only hope that a few of the younger players take something out of this old war horse’s commitment and passion.
